Heavy rain and then perfect weekend weather are in store for SoCal

Topline:

Heavy rain is expected to arrive in Southern California on Thursday, dropping 1 to 2 inches across much of Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. Southwest-facing slopes of the San Gabriel Mountains could see 2 to 4 inches. Strong downpours could trigger debris flows in recently burned areas, so be on the lookout for warnings from the National Weather Service.

Snowfall: When the rain arrives on Thursday, snow levels will be around 9,000 feet (above resort level), but will fall to around 6,000 feet as the colder part of the storm moves in late Thursday into Friday.

A tale of two temperatures: While the South Bay was socked in with fog today, highs approached 90 in some inland parts of Southern California. It’s going to gradually cool off starting Tuesday, until temperatures hit the 60s on Thursday. They’ll climb back into the low 70s through the weekend as dry weather returns…
