ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A woman was sentenced on Monday for playing a part in a robbery that ended in murder. In 2022, Anna Dukes used social media to lure a man to a park where she and her accomplice, Adrian Avila, intended to rob him. Once there, the victims’ brother, Elias Otero, attempted to stop them, but was shot and killed by Adrian Avila.

Dukes took a plea deal and pleaded guilty to two counts of armed robbery. Judge David Murphy heard statements from both the victims’ family and the dukes before giving his sentence.”This was a coordinated plan, and you used yourself as bait to lure a man for a robbery and to be killed. These are the plain facts of this case. You were involved in this homicide. It would be remiss if I let you leave this courtroom without acknowledging those plain facts before me,” said Judge Murphy.
