Inside look at a Colorado sobriety checkpoint

GOLDEN, Colo. (KDVR) — A sobriety checkpoint last week in Golden led to officers contacting almost a thousand cars, arresting eight people for impaired driving. FOX31 learned about the logistics surrounding the operation.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, 50 officers from different agencies made contact with drivers at a checkpoint in a parking lot along US Highway 6 in Golden and in the surrounding area.

“We have roving officers,” CSP District One Commander Major Afsoon Ansari said. “The CSP DUI team is out here along with those officers supporting them in finding impaired drivers that aren’t necessarily coming through this checkpoint but are out on our Colorado roadways.”
