SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Salt Lake City Public Utilities (SLCPU) announced today that they would be offering payment assistance for those impacted by the ongoing government shutdown.
Many in Utah have been impacted by the government shutdown, with federal employees being furloughed and SNAP benefits currently on hold. SLCPU is working to help alleviate some of the stress for those impacted.
Individuals who have been impacted and have received a disconnect notice can request that their current utility balance is divided into three equal monthly payments, so long as they provide one of the following:
- Government employee ID
- Most recent paycheck
- Notice of furlough
- Proof of SNAP benefit eligibility
Those who are eligible for the monthly payment plan will not have their water disconnected during this period…
