PHOTOS: NCDOT salt truck overturns on icy road, troopers say

CANDLER, N.C. (WLOS) — Icy road conditions in Buncombe County caused a North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) salt truck to overturn, spilling its load on Tuesday morning.

A trooper at the scene said the salt truck overturned on Oak Hill Road, at the intersection with Starnes Cove Road. The NCDOT truck driver was not hurt, according to the trooper.

According to officials with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred when the driver lost traction and began sliding backwards on the roadway. The truck then slid into a ditch and overturned, damaging a fire hydrant and power pole, officials confirmed…
