At Least One LAFD Official Knew of Early Warnings About Lachman Fire, Report Fails to Mention

PACIFIC PALISADES – At least one Los Angeles Fire Department official knew of firefighter complaints about being ordered to leave the Lachman Fire area, according to a new report by the Los Angeles Times.

After the fire, a 70-page After-Action Review Report found that poor communication, inadequate staffing, and inexperienced leadership contributed to the city’s failed response to the Palisades Fire. The report provides a detailed sequence of events from the first 36 hours of the blaze, outlining successes, challenges, lessons learned, and recommendations to improve the department’s response to future emergencies.

Despite at least one department official knowing about the Lachman Fire – which later reignited and became the deadly Palisades Fire – the report makes no mention of this or the concerns some firefighters raised about leaving it smoldering…
