Local businesses salute veterans with Veterans Day discounts, freebies, here is where to go

NEW ORLEANS — Today is Veterans Day, and many local businesses are saluting the veterans with freebies and discounts.

The federal holiday, which falls on Nov. 11 each year, is linked to the end of World War I and wasn’t officially called Veterans Day until 1954.

Here is a list of local coffee shops and restaurants, and other businesses offering specials for veterans.

Blue Oak BBQ

Blue Oak BBQ on 900 N. Carrollton Ave. is saying thank you to the veterans with a 20% discount for all veterans and active-duty military.

PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans

Local coffee shop PJ’s Coffee is showing their gratitude on Veterans Day with a free 16-oz Hot Coffee or Cold Brew Iced Coffee for all Veterans and Active Duty Members at all PJ’s Coffee locations.

Applebee’s

Veterans and active duty military personnel can receive a free meal from a select menu by dining in at participating locations on Nov. 11.

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit

Veterans and active-duty military personnel will get a free Pulled Pork Sandwich at all Dickey’s Barbecue Pit locations nationwide if they show valid military ID or wear their uniform. The offer is available for dine-in or carryout.

IHOP
