Yamhill County will assume responsibility for Crabtree Park in Dundee

Chehalem Park and Recreation District and county agree to terms

Chehalem Park and Recreation District groundskeepers will soon have one less property to maintain following the announcement that Crabtree Park will revert back to the Yamhill County Parks Department.

“Since 1968, Yamhill County has leased the park to CPRD and CPRD has maintained the park as part of its inventory, which includes more than 20 parks in Dundee and Newberg,” a release said. “As this lease approached its end date, the CPRD board of directors and county commissioners each considered options and mutually determined that this would be the best path forward for all.”

After more than a half century of responsibility, the park district is expected to exit the lease Dec. 31. The county will begin management on New Year’s Day. Officials said the park will remain open during the transition…
