AROUND ALASKA: Veterans Memorial, Green Light, and Moccasin Week!

Work on a brand new Veterans Memorial Park finished up just in time for Veterans Day. Tlingit & Haida shared this video — showing the work that went into building the new Southeast Alaska Native Veterans Memorial Park. The public was invited to check it out during a special Veterans Day ceremony on Tuesday here in Juneau. Two totem poles honoring our veterans will be raised here at a later date.

All November long, a bright green light will be shining on the Alaska Railroad’s Anchorage Depot. It’s in support of “Operation Green Light for Veterans.” Railroad officials shared a post on social media saying: “Veterans make up about 15% of our workforce.” Shining this light is meant to show they are seen and supported.
