WAYNESVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — The Waynesville Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 5202 honored veterans this morning with a free breakfast and ceremony for Veterans Day.
The VFW is a nonprofit organization that provides support, programs and recognition of service to veterans.
“Community needs to know that veterans are here,” said Commander Fuzzy Jensen with Waynesville VFW Post 5202. ” You know we’re part of the community and, you know, we’re fathers and brothers and sisters and mothers. Things like that, you know, we’re a big part of it.”
Part of the nonprofit’s mission involves serving as a collection site for old and worn American flags, bringing in about 600 a year, according to their press release…
