(WACH) — Communities across the Midlands are honoring Veterans Day with a variety of events, including parades, ceremonies, and service projects.
Organizations and residents are coming together to pay tribute to veterans and their families, reflecting on their sacrifices and contributions.
Below is a list of Veterans Day events across the Midlands:
- Veterans Day Home Build: Home building for a widow of a U.S. veteran on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1117 Allen St., Cayce, SC 29033.
- City of Columbia 47th Annual Veterans Day Parade: Parade at Sumter Street and Laurel Street, begins at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
- Fini Flight Ceremony for 2LT Jimmie L. “Jim” Hamilton: Honoring the Korean War-era aviator and longtime leader in state aviation on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at Celebrate Freedom Foundation Hangar, 2533 Airport Blvd., West Columbia.
- Irmo Veterans Day Ceremony: Local veterans to be honored at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Irmo Veterans Park, Palmetto Wood Parkway.
- Veterans Day Luncheon: Paying tribute to all veterans and heroes on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at La Isla Bonita Restaurant, 1701 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29223.
- Free meals at Texas Roadhouse: U.S. military to receive free meal vouchers at restaurant locations between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday with proof of service.
- Sumter County Veterans Day Parade: Begins at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Main and Bartlette streets, ending at the Sumter County Courthouse.
- Veterans Day Celebration: On Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1653 Russell St., Orangeburg.
