Chautauqua County Reveals Health Inspection Results Last Month

Each month, health code inspectors in Chautauqua County visit restaurants and other spots that prepare food. The inspectors are tasked with making sure restaurants, schools, hotels, legions, and even jails are following the safety protocols.

They thoroughly review each restaurant’s operations to make sure the restaurants are not violating any health codes. Health code inspections reveal non-critical violations such as “Accurate thermometers not available or used to evaluate refrigerated or heated storage temperatures” and “Toilet facilities inadequate, inconvenient, dirty, in disrepair, toilet paper missing, not self-closing doors, missing hand wash signs.”

Some restaurants get flagged for critical violations, such as “Potentially hazardous foods are not kept at or above 140°F during hot holding” or “Accurate thermometers not available or used to evaluate potentially hazardous food temperatures during cooking, cooling, reheating and holding.”…
