LAKELAND, Tenn. – Sergeant Samuel Lilley, a motorcycle deputy with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), was racing to help another injured deputy in October 2024 when he found himself involved in a crash, an incident that he barely escaped with his life and changed the course of his career.
“I think he’s the type of deputy that any person will want to respond to them on their worst day of life,” SCSO Chief Deputy Anthony Buckner said in February 2025.
