Residents of Cutler Bay soon will see improvements to entrances and exits to Florida’s Turnpike in their community.
The Florida’s Turnpike Extension (SR 821) and Surface Street Improvements Project will be explained in detail in November at the next town council meeting. The purpose of the project is to upgrade the turnpike extension and surrounding roadways to enhance safety, capacity, and resilience.
According to Hector Reyes, community outreach specialist, key improvements will include, “Adding one northbound turnpike lane from Cutler Ridge Boulevard/SW 211th Street to US1; adding one turn lane in each direction at Hainlin Mill Road along with an eastbound turn lane from Cutler Ridge Boulevard to northbound Florida’s Turnpike; widening the Florida’s Turnpike bridge over Caribbean Blvd.; new noise walls along qualifying residential areas; lighting and signalization upgrades for improved travel; enhancing daily commutes and neighborhood connections throughout southern Miami-Dade County and smoother traffic flow.”…
