Local veterans, volunteers donate food to make sure no veterans go hungry

(WJAR) — Sitting outside of the Elks Lodge in East Providence, behind Rhode Island State Elks Chair Matt Vianna, was several car trunks full of food.

“It’s kind of like a mini Walmart!” said Vianna.

All of the food was donated and went to the Providence VA hospital food pantry to feed homeless veterans or veterans in need.

“When we first were told that SNAP benefits were going to be affected, the first and foremost thought we had were the food banks are getting stocked but the VA pantry is not,” said Vianna…
