City looking for new organization to operate, manage Southbridge Shelter

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The city is looking for a new organization to operate and manage services at the Southbridge Shelter starting early next year.

The city of Austin’s Homeless Strategies and Operations (HSO) has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to partner with organizations that will provide “low-barrier, stabilizing, and housing-focused emergency shelter services for individuals and households experiencing homelessness.”

According to a press release, the selected contractor will operate and manage services at the Southbridge Shelter, a 145-bed semi-congregate facility designed to support people on their path toward stable housing.

The shelter’s semi-congregate accommodations combine shared and individual spaces that foster community and personal safety, the release noted.
