The first crash happened around 9 p.m. in the 6800 block of Memorial Drive. According to witnesses, the driver of a blue Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle. The Tahoe left the roadway, struck several trees, and came to rest on a nearby walkway. The 28-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics. A passenger in the vehicle was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
Later that evening, at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a fatal hit-and-run in the 7900 block of West FM 1960. Investigators determined that a gray Toyota Tundra traveling northbound struck a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway. The driver did not stop to render aid, and the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.
A short time later, an individual who knew the driver contacted police. Officers have since located both the vehicle and the driver. The investigation into the hit-and-run continues…
