(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) shared a post on Facebook titled “You’re burning what?!” in reference to several calls its firefighters have responded to about illegal outdoor burning in the past several weeks, including trash, leaves, and dead grass, in neighborhoods across the city.
In the post, CSFD reminded the community of what’s legal and illegal when it comes to outdoor burning in the city.
Legal outdoor burning

Illegal outdoor burning
- Burning trash, yard waste, or construction materials
- Open burning by non-governmental entities
- Use of fireworks that require ignition
“Listen up, people: the fuels are dry, we have not had moisture for several weeks, and the temperatures are unseasonably warm. Our city is no stranger to destructive wildfires. A single spark from an illegal burn can destroy a lifetime – do not be the cause of someone’s loss,” CSFD warned…
