Deputies arrested 37-year-old Samuel Lund after an explosive and gunfire attack on a Cornelius home; additional explosive devices were later found in his Beaverton residence.
Cornelius, OR. — On Thursday, November 6, 2025, at approximately 4:13 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s deputies serving the city of Cornelius responded to reports of an explosive device being thrown at a door near the 300 block of North 10th Avenue. The caller discovered multiple bullet holes in the door but, fortunately, no one was injured.
Deputies requested assistance from the Washington County Community Violence Reduction Team (CoVRT) and the Metro Explosives Disposal Unit. Investigators determined the incident was a targeted attack and that the suspect was known to the victim. Due to concerns the suspect might possess firearms or additional explosive devices, tactical and negotiation units were deployed, including the Tactical Negotiations Team (TNT), Crisis Negotiations Unit (CNU), Remotely Operated Vehicle Team (ROVT), and the Incident Management Team (IMT).
Later that evening, investigators obtained a search warrant for a residence near the 13000 block of SW Cottontail Lane in Beaverton, where the suspect — identified as 37-year-old Samuel Lund — lived. Around 10:30 p.m., before executing the warrant, deputies observed Lund leaving his home on a bicycle toward SW Scholls Ferry Road. He was intercepted and taken into custody without incident.
