WASILLA, Alaska (KTUU) – Two people are extremely lucky to be alive after falling through the ice at Knik Lake, near the Knik Bar and Grill, in Wasilla. The property has been undergoing construction as the owner, Doug Massie, looks to expand his business to include a wedding venue along the lakefront.
The crew was working before the restaurant opened for the day when they noticed a vehicle pull up. Two young individuals got out of the vehicle. The two people put on their ice skates, and things seemed to be going well until suddenly they plunged into the icy water.
“My first thought was holy ****,” carpenter with Rayco Construction, Aiden Oxereok said. “I yelled for my boss to help me get them out of there, and we went out there and brought down a couple pieces of lumber to go help them.”…
