Baltimore warehouse fire blankets city in thick smoke as boats deployed to battle blaze

Officials of the Baltimore City Fire Department said a blaze broke out at a warehouse on the 2300 block of South Newkirk Street, prompting the sky to be overcast by a large, black plume of smoke

Firefighters said crews are working diligently to contain the fire and implored residents to steer clear of the area until authorities deem it safe.

It is unclear whether anyone has been injured as a result of the blaze. Fire officials also didn’t specify the cause of the fire, which has been identified as a three-alarm blaze, according to the citizen app. As of 11:48 a.m., firefighters contained the bulk of the fire and have erected lines on the roof.
