San José Police Receive $235,000 Grant to Improve Local Road Safety

The San José Police Department (SJPD) has received a $235,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). The grant will fund traffic enforcement and education programs through September 2026. The goal is to reduce serious injuries and fatalities on San José roads by addressing dangerous driving behaviors.

SJPD Lieutenant Bret Hatzenbuhler said the funding will allow the department to conduct DUI checkpoints and distracted driving operations.
