Brothers sentenced to prison for shooting partygoers at family gathering

Two brothers have been sentenced to prison for opening fire during a family gathering in Bronzeville that left two women wounded as relatives celebrated a girl’s prom.

Judge Peggy Chiampas sentenced Davion Seaberry, 26, to eight years in prison and his brother, Raequan Seaberry, 27, to 12 years after each pleaded guilty to aggravated battery by discharging a firearm, according to prosecutors and court records.

On the morning of April 8, 2023, the Seaberrys went to the home in the 3800 block of South Indiana Avenue to celebrate their ex-stepfather’s daughter’s prom. The gathering included several family members and children as young as 12 weeks old…
