ROCK RAPIDS—Two men have been sentenced after pleading guilty in a scheme to illegally claim a slot machine jackpot from Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort northwest of Larchwood.
The case against 38-year-old Luis Miguel Mejia of Sioux Falls, SD, and 49-year-old Julio Mejia Cerritos of Worthington, MN, stemmed from Luis Mejia winning a slot machine jackpot of $1,517.40 on July 13 at Grand Falls Casino, according to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
Luis Mejia does not have a Social Security number and was not able to claim the jackpot, so he moved out of the seat of the slot machine while Mejia Cerritos moved into the seat and claimed the jackpot…
