ASHEVILLE, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – Governor Josh Stein will volunteer at a food bank before presenting the 2025 North Carolina Awards in Asheville on Thursday.
Governor Stein and several cabinet secretaries will volunteer at MANNA Food Bank, which has been on the front lines of Hurricane Helene recovery. Last month, Governor Stein led a public-private partnership to provide nearly $18 million to North Carolina food banks in support of families who lost their SNAP benefits in the government shutdown.
The governor will later present the North Carolina Award, the state’s highest civilian honor, to six North Carolinians at the Grove Park Inn, marking the first time the ceremony has taken place outside of Raleigh.
