Monticello and Highland join Virginia 250 Passport to encourage visiting historic sites

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello and James Monroe’s Highland are both joining the Virginia 250 Passport.

They join 70 other historical sites across Virginia who are on the passport, which free to use and gives people a 15% discount off of admission prices to other sites after they visit a stop.

“The inspiration came from the idea of wanting to encourage Virginians and people from across the country to really engage in Virginia’s history and the nation’s history as we approach this semi-quincentennial or 250 anniversary of the Declaration of Independence,” said Steve Light, Monticello’s Vice President for Education and Guest Experiences…
