UVA researcher questions long-term effects of GLP-1 weight loss drug

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – GLP-1 drugs used for weight loss are as accessible as ever, but one researcher at UVA says it is about time we start considering the long-term effects of these injectables.

Professor Siddartha Angadi says that the weight only stays off as long as someone stays on the drugs. The quit rates for GLP-1s range from 30 to 70 percent.

Once people stop, the weight comes back, he said, minus the vital muscle they may have lost while taking them…
