93rd Civic Cup awarded to Bob Giles for outstanding business and philanthropic achievements

If you have ever shopped for a car, had your car washed, or participated in any number of local fundraisers, you’ve probably heard of Bob Giles. The local car dealership owner and philanthropist has been a familiar name in the Acadiana community since the early 1980s. Giles is the owner of Giles Automotive, Inc., which now encompasses eight dealerships: Giles Nissan of Lafayette, Giles Nissan of Opelousas, Giles Volvo Cars Lafayette, to name a few. He is also the owner of several car washes.

On Tuesday, Nov. 11, Giles was named the 93rd recipient of the Lafayette Civic Cup Award. A sold -out awards ceremony took place at the City Club in Lafayette in front of hundreds of distinguished community leaders and past Civic Cup recipients.

The Civic Cup award honors an outstanding individual who has given his or her time and resources to improve the Lafayette community. Giles has done that through his numerous civic and philanthropic efforts. He and his wife, Sandy, are board members of Acadiana Animal Aid, helping raise millions of dollars for homeless animals. The list of causes they have donated to and raised funds for is long.
