Texas issues health alert over Whooping Cough cases on the rise

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Texas Department of State Health and Human services (DSHS) has issued a health alert after an increase in Whooping Cough or Pertussis cases across Texas.

According to DSHS, Texas has had more than 3,500 reported Pertussis cases so far this year, roughly four times the number reported for the same period last year. This is the second consecutive year that Texas is experiencing high year-over-year.
