Honolulu urged to reduce water usage by 20%

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Honolulu Board of Water Supply is asking Oahu residents to reduce their water usage by 20%.

BWS officials urged Oahu residents to cut their water usage by 10% when the Halawa Shaft was closed due to Red Hill contamination, and that request doubled in 2025.

O’ahu residents to benefit from new sewer rate structure

“Dig a little deeper and go for that 20%. And we’re not just asking single-family homeowners, the bulk of our customers. We want everybody. That means businesses, condominiums, town homes, hotels, golf courses,” said BWS public information officer Kathleen Pahinui.
