DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A local market has donated over 10 shopping carts’ worth of food to food banks since the temporary halt on SNAP/EBT benefits earlier this month.
The Gem City Market recently celebrated after a customer donated $500 gift card to contribute to the work it’s doing to fight food insecurity.
“Our amazing customers continue to go above and beyond, whether it is shopping for additional goods to donate, purchasing extra gift cards for donations, offering a helping hand or even just saying a few kind words,” wrote Director of Community Engagement Jalisa Robinson. “Our strength and togetherness during this time reminds me of the power of this market and the people around it.”
