Firefighter hurt as flames from Southfield house fire shoot 50 feet into the air

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) — A Southfield firefighter has been taken to the hospital after he was injured while battling a house fire that had flames shooting 50 feet into the air.

The fire broke out around 5 a.m. Thursday in a home along the Lodge Freeway service drive near Nine Mile Rd.

The firefighter who was hurt was taken to Providence Hospital, but is expected to be OK, officials said.
