HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Huntsville Police Department is celebrating the opening of its Crime Scene and Evidence Warehouse Complex, marking a major milestone in the City’s ongoing commitment to public safety and innovation.
The $9.6 million facility brings HPD’s Crime Scene Investigators and Digital Forensics teams under one roof.
The new crime scene and evidence warehouse consists of:
- 14,000-square-foot main building
- 13,500-square-foot climate-controlled warehouse for evidence and vehicle storage.
- Processing areas
- Labs
“This project has been years in the making, and it marks a major step forward in how we serve and protect our City,” said HPD Chief Kirk Giles. “This complex is more than just a building; it’s a game-changer for how we investigate and solve crimes.”
