A special magistrate will review a code enforcement case for an Ocala plaza that was partially destroyed by an explosion in July 2024, with officers seeking a deadline of January 2026 for the city’s possible intervention and demolition of the property due to the owner’s lack of progress on repairs and increased criminal activity at the site.
The matter will come before Code Enforcement Special Magistrate Ryan C. Fong during a meeting on Monday, November 17.
The explosion in question occurred on July 30, 2024, at the Classic Laundromat within the Hillside Plaza located at 1423 NE 25th Avenue in east Ocala.
