PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Rhode Island’s budget picture just got a little brighter, but state leaders are still facing tough choices in the months ahead.
The number-crunchers who took part in the state’s semiannual Revenue Estimating Conference announced Monday that state revenue should be $29 million higher in the current 2025-26 budget year than they had projected when they last met in May.
The above-forecast tax receipts give Gov. Dan McKee slightly more wiggle room as he puts together a budget bill for the 2026-27 fiscal year, which is due to the General Assembly in January.
