Sheriffs join prosecutors in opposing plan to end automatic adult charges for juveniles

MARYLAND (WBFF) — With Maryland’s next legislative session right around the corner, one anticipated bill on juvenile accountability is already sparking a wave of criticism.

This week, half of Maryland’s State’s Attorneys publicly spoke out against a proposal to end the practice of automatically charging youth as adults for certain violent crimes. They represent Wicomico, Montgomery, Howard, Anne Arundel, Cecil, Frederick, Harford, Baltimore City, Calvert, Caroline, Carroll, and Baltimore County.
