Firefighters put out apartment building fire in southeast Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Professional Firefighters Local 366 feared some people may have been trapped in a 3-story apartment building fire early this morning.

It was in the 2400 block of Normandy Drive, which is north of 28th Street and west of Breton Road.

According to a Local 366 social media post, crews arrived at 12:27 a.m. to find heavy smoke coming from the second floor. When they got inside, they found the fire and realized some people were on that floor. While fighting the fire, they used a ladder to access the second floor, do some firefighter egress and ventilate the building…
