According to the Iowa State Patrol, troopers responded to two separate reports of a driver brandishing a firearm at fellow motorists. One victim reported that the driver of a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado was “pointing a handgun” at them. A second victim told authorities the same driver “displayed a handgun again” and pointed it in their direction, stating he could clearly see the barrel.
The driver—identified as 42-year-old Chelcee Jolee Hindman of Ames—was located and stopped by a trooper shortly after the reports. A search of the vehicle uncovered a black handgun inside Hindman’s purse, positioned near the driver’s seat, according to court records.
