Anoka County Sheriff’s Office solves 42-year-old cold case of abandoned newborn

Through DNA testing, the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office has solved the decades-old cold case of “Rachel Marie Doe,” a newborn baby found dead on the side of a road in Blaine.

On January 21, 1983, the baby girl was found with her placenta still attached on the side of the road on Main Street, between Highway 65 and Radisson Road.

The baby could not be identified, and an autopsy could not determine if she had been born alive or stillborn. The community held a funeral for the baby, and she was buried at a local church cemetery…
