Most San Antonio area elementary schools improved in performance fromthe 2024-2025 school year compared to the previous year, according to the advocacy group Children at Risk’s annual rankings released this week.
Still, even with more improvement when compared to the state, local elementary schools continued to trail behind, averaging a score of 43 compared to the statewide average of 50.
Children at Risk assigns rankings using three metrics from eligible elementary schools’ STAAR scores: raw student achievement, achievement relative to poverty levels, and year-over-year student growth.
