Two Eastern Iowa companies close, laying off 46

According to Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act data, Ceilley Pallets of Waterloo and RELCO of Cedar Rapids are closing. Ceilley Pallets, a full-service wood recycling center specializing in custom pallets and crates, is laying off 12 people, effective Nov. 27. RELCO, a locomotive leasing, rebuilding and repair business, which had $50 million in sales in 2019, is laying off 34 workers, effective Dec. 31. RELCO was bought by Wabtec Corp. in 2020. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Wabtec describes itself as a global provider of equipment, systems and digital solutions for the freight and passenger rail industries.
