With shutdown lifted, SNAP benefits will be restored to Utahns

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Utah will issue full November benefits to all Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) customers after the federal government shutdown was lifted on Wednesday.

According to the Utah Department of Workforce Services, deposits will be made by Saturday. For those customers who normally receive their SNAP benefits on the 5th or 11th of each month will receive their deposit beginning Friday.

Customers who receive their SNAP benefits on the 15th of the month will receive their deposit as normally scheduled, the Dept. said in a statement.

More than 11,800 households who receive SNAP benefits across Utah, Wasatch, and Summit counties were impacted amid the historic 43-day government shutdown, according to Community Action Services and Food Bank (CASFB). Many community-run ‘little food pantries’ started receiving a lot of support amid the shutdown with donations and food supplies pouring in.
