Goodyear Police Receive $65,000 Grant to Boost DUI Enforcement Through Mid-2026

The Goodyear Police Department just got a $65,000 boost from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for ramping up DUI enforcement through mid-2026, as reported by the City of Goodyear, Public Relations Bureau. This grant is part of a concerted effort to curb incidents of driving under the influence on Goodyear’s roads by financing additional patrols and officer training.

According to the City of Goodyear announcement, the funding falls under the DUI Abatement Council grant, it’s earmarked for officer overtime and various related costs which will help detailed officers pull impaired drivers off the streets before they can cause harm, with the Traffic Bureau’s Lieutenant Kyle Rogers noting in a statement obtained by the city that “every impaired driver taken off the road represents a life potentially saved.” The DUI/Impaired Driving Enforcement and Training Overtime program, specifically running from July 1 to June 30, 2026, is partly about presence; Goodyear residents will notice an uptick in saturation patrols and see their officers joining regional task force operations more often, especially when holidays roll around, when crowds gather for big-ticket events…
