Renown’s Crisis Care Center in Sparks has reopened, providing mental health care 24/7 for the northern Nevada community.
Dr. Takesha Cooper, chief of behavioral health at Renown, said, “We opened on Tuesday and we had eight patients that day and today’s Wednesday and so far, it’s not even noon, we already have ten patients.”
The center, located on Galletti Way in Sparks, initially opened in February 2025 using federal funds. However, funding was terminated in May, leading to a temporary suspension of operations in April. Cooper explained, “Unfortunately, we lost funding, federal funding, ARPA funds, and so we had to temporarily suspend operations.”…
