Inmates in Wasilla are doing their part to help pets displaced by Typhoon Halong. The inmates are hard at work building dog houses for pets affected by the storm. The Port MacKenzie superintendent’s dog is also helping out. “Rusty” is serving as a model to make sure the dog houses are warm, sturdy, and ready for their new occupants.
The wildlife viewing tower at Reflections Lake in Palmer Hay Flats is temporarily closed. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game reports the tower is being repaired and is expected to reopen sometime in the spring. The Reflections Lake trails are still open.
The University of Alaska Anchorage is thanking everyone who took part in UAA STEM Day.
