Anchorage encouraged to weigh in on draft wildfire safety plan

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The Anchorage Fire Department (AFD) took a crucial step towards enhanced wildfire prevention Wednesday, hosting a Wildfire Town Hall where residents gathered to weigh in on the newly drafted Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP).

This vital plan is designed to help identify wildfire threats, boost emergency response capabilities, and prioritize key actions to fortify Anchorage neighborhoods against potentially devastating blazes.

The CWPP is a collaborative effort involving AFD, Girdwood Fire & Rescue, Chugiak Volunteer Fire & Rescue, the Alaska Division of Forestry & Fire Protection, and over 50 interagency partners.
