HONOLULU (KHON2) — The University of Hawaii Athletics Department is asking state lawmakers for millions of dollars more for its budget next year. School leaders say it’s needed to try to remain competitive on the field, and attract – and retain – top student-athletes.
The Warrior football team is leading the charge for an exciting year in UH athletics. And the school wants to keep this momentum going.

“The football team’s doing great, exciting about basketball season’s about to start, so if we can get our student athletes a really solid NIL program around them, then we can retain them, and we can have excellent programs going forward,” said Matt Elliott, UH at Manoa Athletics Director.
