NC Gov. Stein visits MANNA FoodBank, speaks on federal cuts impacting SNAP and Medicaid

MILLS RIVER, N.C. (WLOS) — North Carolina Governor Josh Stein visited the Asheville area on Thursday, Nov. 13, to assist MANNA FoodBank.

He first visited MANNA, where he helped pack food boxes two weeks out from Thanksgiving. Stein then delivered a grant to MANNA FoodBank of more than $500,000 from the state to aid the food bank in its ongoing efforts to help families impacted by Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program changes when the government was shutdown.

Stein was also in WNC for the North Carolina awards, honoring six outstanding North Carolinians for their civilian work. But at MANNA FoodBank, he spoke on several issues, from when the government was shutdown, to his concern that low-income families will continue to face program cuts after the federal government passed cuts to Medicaid and SNAP, ABC reported…
