Inmate pleads guilty in state prison killing

PUNTA GORDA — A Charlotte Correctional Institution inmate was adjudicated guilty of first-degree murder Thursday in the strangulation death of a fellow inmate in 2024.

William Tulenko pleaded guilty to killing James Lindsey Howze on Feb. 29, 2024, according to the State Attorney’s Office.

Tulenko, a convicted murderer serving a life sentence in the Florida State prison system, was accused of strangling Howze to death. Tulenko and Howze were the only two people in the cell at the time of the killing, prosecutors said…
