No Name Deli begins renovation of new Sumter Street location

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Mashburn Construction has begun work on the future home of Columbia’s beloved No Name Deli, marking a new chapter for the longtime sandwich shop as it prepares to relocate just a few blocks from its current Elmwood Avenue location. The new site sits at the corner of Laurel and Sumter Streets, where two previously vacant buildings are being transformed into a unified dining space.

During early renovation work, Mashburn crews uncovered historic architectural details hidden for years—features that will be restored and incorporated into the design. Owners Chris Davis and Jon Sears partnered with Lee and Paul Mashburn to purchase the property, with a shared goal of breathing new life into a once-bustling area of downtown.

The renovated building will merge both structures into a single updated footprint and will feature covered outdoor seating, expanded parking, and a faster “to-go” setup. “We are honored to partner with Mashburn Construction on this historic project and are truly excited about our upcoming move to Sumter Street,” the owners said. “While our team and our menu will remain unchanged, we believe the enhanced layout and expanded parking will significantly elevate the overall dining experience for our guests.”…
